In this day and age when most seek physical comfort, safety, no-risk virtual entertainment experiences, and instant gratification without effort, real hitters make the choice to relentlessly train to step into the box, wholeheartedly, to face probable failure, discomfort, possible injury, and rejection from others over and over and over. Gladly. 

Why do they do it? Because it’s simply in their blood to hunt flush, hard contact in big moments regardless of the pressure and odds of success. If you know that feeling of satisfaction, you know. Most spectators have no idea what hitters go through on a moment-to-moment, week-by-week, season-by-season basis in the box. The sacrifice is real.
 
There is a true obsession within the hitters that moves them past the fear, and into the work to master their craft with no promise of reward, respect, glory, or love in return.  We consider any hitter, of any age, gender, and level to be on the devoted path to master the hardest thing to do in sports until the very last At Bat of their lives. Learning to hit, is the great teacher. To be a student of the art of hitting is to be ok with what life presents to you and say "I’m here for it." Right now. Thank you for the lesson, what’s next. To choose to be a hitter is to be exhausted mentally much of the time, but love it.  More often than not, you are likely going to find yourself searching your soul for every last ounce of mental grit, resilience, and focus just to find one more barrel for your teammates. You don’t hit for the recognition, the rankings, scholarship or status, you hit for the love of it.

You could call that having a Warrior’s Mentality.
